Been There. Burned Out. Full-Time to Part-Time…
I know firsthand what it’s like to feel stuck, burned out, and trapped in a career that feels like it’s consuming your entire life. If you’re constantly exhausted, questioning if work-life balance is even possible, and wondering how you can reclaim your time without sacrificing your income, then this episode is for you.
Years ago, I was exactly where you are now.
During the pandemic, I was working full-time in Urology—55 to 60-hour weeks, drowning in patient charts, never feeling caught up. Always being pulled here, there and everywhere… at work and outside of work!
At home, I had five kids (why do I say it like that? I still have 5 kids. I’ll always have 5 kids, even though 2 of them are adults these days)—including a newborn. It was overwhelming. Resentment, exhaustion, and burnout weren’t just on the horizon—they had arrived.
I feel like, during that season, burnout doesn’t adequately describe how I was feeling. Burnt to a crisp is more like it. A dry, empty shell of the person I wanted to be is a better description, honestly.
Ugh, it still makes me want to cry when I think about how many moments I missed during that season of burnout. Opportunities to connect with my kids. Connection with my husband. So many moments.
But this isn’t about the then… this is about the now. Or for you, and you’re feeling like this now… it’s about the future!
When I was burned out and working full-time plus, I had lost sight of my worth, my options, and how to even begin asking for what I needed.

Is Working Part-Time the Answer?
I’m here to tell you: It doesn’t have to be this way. I’ve been where you are, and I’ve made the transition to part-time—without losing financial stability, career growth, or my passion for medicine.
After struggling (and failing to successfully) negotiate a part-time role at my Urology job, I pivoted. I found a way to restructure my career so that I wasn’t sacrificing my health, my family, or my income. Over time, I went from 60 hours a week to 32 patient-facing hours a week… to 24 hours a week over 3 days.
And get this—I actually started earning more while working less.
No, not from this business, although this, too, has grown and scaled during the last 5-years, too.
I’m talking about income from my primary position as a PA – it’s gone up as my hours have gone down. I work less than half the time now in the office and I earn over 60% more!
Now, I’m pivoting myself into the space of Part-Time Clinician Coach, helping other providers successfully make the transition to part-time work without financial risk or fear of losing career momentum.
Your income matters. Your career trajectory matters. How you show up at work and the patients you care for deeply matters.
But you, my friend… you matter. Your health, your sanity, your wellness… these things all matter.
So, is part-time work the key to unlock full-time happiness for you? Because you matter.
How to Pivot to Part-Time
If you’re listening to this and thinking, I wish I could do that, but I have no idea where to start… I’ve got you.
Here’s how you can start moving toward the part-time practice of medicine right now:
1️⃣ Assess Your Readiness – Before making the leap, you need to understand where you stand financially, professionally, and personally. That’s why I created the Part-Time Readiness Assessment DOWNLOAD HERE, a tool designed to help you evaluate if a part-time transition is feasible and how to make it happen smoothly.

Follow this link to answer 10 questions about your current work situation, cash-flow, budgeting and benefits status and, most importantly, the reason that part-time work matters to you during this season.
2️⃣ Map Out Your Financial L\andscape – A big concern for most clinicians is, Can I afford to work part-time? The answer? Yes—but only if you have a plan. This step ensures your income, benefits, and expenses align with a sustainable transition.
3️⃣ Negotiate the Right Way – Many clinicians don’t even realize that negotiating for a part-time position is possible—or that they can increase their hourly compensation while decreasing hours.
No one at your job works part-time? No problem. With strong skills in negotiation and a clear process for making this a reality, you could be the first. Someone has to pave the path, why not you?
I’ll teach you exactly how to approach your employer with a value-driven proposal that benefits your team, meets a need, and helps you take a step towards that schedule that will work better for you!
4️⃣ Explore Alternative Work Models – If your current employer says no, there are absolutely, positively other ways to build a career and generate income in a way that fits your life. I’ll help you get creative with supplementing your income in alternative ways, on your terms and on your time.
5️⃣ Join a Supportive Community – You don’t have to do this alone. I’m opening up a small-group coaching cohort – we are starting soon – this Pathway to Part-Time group is filled with other clinicians just like you.

Together, you will through this process step-by-step of how to go from full-time work and a part-time life that is unfulfilling where you are battling burnout, overwhelm and feel perpetually overworked and behind… to part-time work and full-time happiness.
What’s at Risk
If you’re reading this and thinking, I can’t do that, let me ask you this:
💡 What will happen if nothing changes?
💡 If you continue working at your current pace, where will you be in 5 years?
Here’s the truth: staying in burnout mode doesn’t just affect your career—it impacts your mental health, your relationships, and your quality of life.
I see it all the time—clinicians who don’t make a plan, stay in jobs that drain them, and eventually either quit medicine altogether or lose their sense of purpose.
This leads to providers who haven’t felt passionate about patient care… in years. They are simply showing up, treating people, writing notes, and going home. This isn’t what you want for your career. It’s not what’s best for you or for your patients.
But here’s the alternative option available to you: You can create a life where you feel energized, fulfilled, and financially stable—while working part-time.
