I know firsthand what it’s like to feel stuck, burned out, and trapped in a career that feels like it’s consuming your entire life. If you’re constantly exhausted, questioning if work-life balance is even possible, and wondering how you can reclaim your time without sacrificing your income, then this episode is for you.

Years ago, I was exactly where you are now.

During the pandemic, I was working full-time in Urology—55 to 60-hour weeks, drowning in patient charts, never feeling caught up. Always being pulled here, there and everywhere… at work and outside of work! 

At home, I had five kids (why do I say it like that? I still have 5 kids. I’ll always have 5 kids, even though 2 of them are adults these days)—including a newborn. It was overwhelming. Resentment, exhaustion, and burnout weren’t just on the horizon—they had arrived.

I feel like, during that season, burnout doesn’t adequately describe how I was feeling. Burnt to a crisp is more like it. A dry, empty shell of the person I wanted to be is a better description, honestly. 

Ugh, it still makes me want to cry when I think about how many moments I missed during that season of burnout. Opportunities to connect with my kids. Connection with my husband. So many moments.

But this isn’t about the then… this is about the now. Or for you, and you’re feeling like this now… it’s about the future! 

When I was burned out and working full-time plus, I had lost sight of my worth, my options, and how to even begin asking for what I needed.

Is Working Part-Time the Answer?

I’m here to tell you: It doesn’t have to be this way. I’ve been where you are, and I’ve made the transition to part-time—without losing financial stability, career growth, or my passion for medicine.

After struggling (and failing to successfully) negotiate a part-time role at my Urology job, I pivoted. I found a way to restructure my career so that I wasn’t sacrificing my health, my family, or my income. Over time, I went from 60 hours a week to 32 patient-facing hours a week… to 24 hours a week over 3 days.

And get this—I actually started earning more while working less.

No, not from this business, although this, too, has grown and scaled during the last 5-years, too. 

I’m talking about income from my primary position as a PA – it’s gone up as my hours have gone down. I work less than half the time now in the office and I earn over 60% more! 

Now, I’m pivoting myself into the space of Part-Time Clinician Coach, helping other providers successfully make the transition to part-time work without financial risk or fear of losing career momentum.

Your income matters. Your career trajectory matters. How you show up at work and the patients you care for deeply matters.
